 Central Maine and Aroostook Overview

The Central Maine and Aroostook railroad features both the Maine Central and Bangor and Aroostook railroads set in the mid 60’s to mid 70’s .
All power is first and second generation EMD and Alco.
The railroad is DCC (Digitrax) controlled with a dispatcher and switchlists used by operators.
2 large freight yards and paper mill, road jobs and locals will keep crews busy.

The MEC covers Rigby Yard (staging) passing through Brunswick, the freight yard at Waterville and Newport before arriving at the interchange in the BAR yard Northern Maine Junction.
There are many industry’s to switch by the locals out of Waterville yard as well as setouts and pickups by road freights.

The Bangor and Aroostook operates out of NMJ yard both north and south. The main focus is the Potato, paper and lumber industries. Southbound turns to Searsport haul bunker oil to the mill in Millinocket along with empty / loaded boxcars for the paper lumber and potato industry. Northbound trains work as far north as Caribou and the GN paper mill in Millinocket
